Where is Lake Anna? (CONTINUED)

...Central Virginia is steeped in our country'shistory. Patrick Henry's home is in Hanover County and George Washington 's mother lived in Fredericksburg. The Armies of Generals Robert E. Lee and U.S. Grant engaged in battles all around the area, from Spotsylvania, the Wilderness, and Chancellorsville to Appomattox. Thomas Jefferson's Montecello, and the homes of both Madison and Monroe are not far away.

The area around the lake boomed with development around the turn of the centruy when mining was a major industry. Locals still pan for (and still find!) gold in the local streams which feed the lake. Join them at Lake Anna State Park weekly during the summer months!
