Route 652, Kentucky Springs Road, will be re-routed through the shopping center area and intersect Route 208 at Lake Anna Nursery. These new roads have been cut and graded, and their new route can easily be seen.

Our long-awaited Food Lion is under construction at the corner of Route 208 and Kentucky Springs Road, Route 652. The prototype store is slated to have a pharmacy, and several other businesses (including a Chinese restaurant, a pizza parlor, and a sub shop) will adjoin the first full size grocery store here at Lake Anna. Construction appears to be moving along quickly, and the developers anticipate that we will be shopping there before the end of January, 2011! Photos below taken July 13, 2010:

The Boardwalk at Lake Anna is now under roof. This waterfront complex will include a restaurant and possible sports bar, along with other retail shops and offices. The site features a boardwalk along the water with benches to enjoy the lake after dinner, eat an ice cream, or meet friends and neighbors. The developers hope it will become a favorite Lake Anna destination, especially once the planned batting cages, mini golf, and exercise circuit are complete. Located on Route 522 just before the bridge over the North Anna river, it will be a great place to stop for a dinner on a Friday evening on your way to the lake for the weekend, too! Lake Anna Island has a new building that is nearing completion along Route 208 on the Louisa County side of the bridge. Both an American and an Asian restaurant are slated to locate there, as well as several other local businesses. Photos of construction will be posted soon!

Think You're Old Enough to Operate a PWC?

|

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) is phasing in new requirements for PWC operators in Virginia. If you are younger than 36 years of age (yep, that's not a typo!), you must have successfully completed an Accredited Safe Boating course before July 1, 2010, in order to operate a jet ski on Lake Anna or other Virginia waterways. You may be subject to a fine if you are stopped and have not completed the course. No one under 14 years of age may operate a PWC.
The Louisa County Parks and Recreation Department offers a free course one Saturday a month through October. Click hereSafe Boating Classes.pdf to see a flyer with the dates and location of the course in Louisa or go to www.dgif.virginia.gov/boating for other course locations and more detailed information. The course may also be taken online. Beginning in 2011, the regulations will also cover power boat operators!

Be informed, avoid a fine, but more importantly, boat safely on Lake Anna!

Lake Anna Fireworks Over the Water!

|

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and the Lake Anna Civic Association is again sponsoring one of the best fireworks displays around, presented by Zambelli Fireworks! Plan to come to Lake Anna on Saturday, July 3 and enjoy the show! It is free and open to the public!

All the fireworks are launched from Dike 2 and can be seen from neighboring developments, but most of us like to watch the displays from our boats on either the public or private sides of the lake. Unfortunately there are no public viewing areas on the shores.

Bring a picnic supper, or your favorite snacks, and anchor your boat where you can get a good view...you don't have to be very close to the dike to see the display! The first rockets will be fired around 9:15 pm, but go out early and relax under the summer's evening sky, enjoy a dip in the lake, and wave to your friends and neighbors while waiting for the show.

Just after dark, the sky will light up, and the show just gets better every minute until the Grand Finale! I guarantee you'll have a great time and will want to be here every year!

Remember that 100% of the funding for the fireworks comes donations from residents and friends of Lake Anna. The fireworks committee are all volunteers. If you would like to contribute to this annual Lake Anna event, please send your check made out to "LACA Fireworks" and mail to:

I've sent mine! This year's goal is $20,000!
See you on the lake - on Saturday, July 3!

Dockside Realty's Spring Flotilla - We had a great time!

|

 WE HAD A GREAT TIME!

Dockside Realty's Spring Flotilla on Lake Anna welcomed more than 50 guests on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  After enjoying coffee and donuts at the office, we boarded a flotilla of six pontoon boats for a tour of Lake Anna. We visited a number of waterfront homes for sale and enjoyed a picnic lunch, too. At the end of the afternoon, we returned to Dockside a bit tired, sun tanned, but satisfied after a fun day and excellent weather!
Thanks to our sponsors: Boardwalk at Lake Anna and Serenity Settlements, who provided lunch and beverages, Spartan Homes and A&E Homes, Chase Manhattan Mortgage, and Anna Cabana Restaurant who provided coupons for our clients to enjoy a future on-the-water dining experience in the future.
Here are some additional photos of our day. Enjoy!

New Restaurants Slated for Lake Anna

|

We are pleased to learn that our favorite Chinese restaurant, Bamboo, will be opening in the Food Lion shopping center (called New Bridge Landing), this fall. Currently located in Montpelier, about 20 minutes south of the Lake Anna area, Bamboo has a loyal following from Lake Anna residents. Try their "Honey Twin"...you'll love it! We look forward to dining at their new Lake Anna restaurant!

Building permits have been pulled for the new retail and office building to be built near the Stonewall subdivision where Route 522 crosses the North Anna River. The developer states that in addition to office and retail space, the planned building will house a restaurant (an Italian restaurant may open there) and possibly a sports bar. Hoping to make the development a destination for Lake Anna families, batting cages, a miniature golf course, and an ice cream parlor are also planned!

Two additional restaurants are rumored to open by this summer at the Lake Anna Island complex, on the west side of the Route 208 bridge across the lake.

Click on my Useful Links entries for a list of Lake Anna restaurants already open and ready to welcome you and your family. I hope you'll support these and the new-comers to Lake Anna. And tell your friends and family, too! If you see me enjoying one of these great places, please be sure to stop by and introduce yourself!

Grocery Store Coming to Lake Anna

|
IMG00150.jpgAfter a long wait, our much anticipated grocery store is finally coming to Lake Anna! Located near the intersection of Route 208 (New Bridge Road) and Route 652 (Kentucky Springs Road), the Food Lion will be the anchor store for a small row of shops called New Bridge Landing, which the developers anticipate will be open for business in the Fall of 2010. The Food Lion is rumored to be a "prototype' store, one of just a few like it have been built so far around the country. The location is central to all of the lake, and is just west of the Route 208 bridge in Louisa County. Kentucky Springs Road will be re-routed through this parcel of land, and will terminte at the current intersection of Route 208 with Oak Grove Drive, by Lake Anna Nursery, where we are slated to have our fist and only traffic light! This initial development is one part of a larger commercial area which will include more retail shops and other businesses. On the other side of Kentucky Springs Road is the future location of Lake Anna's 18 hole golf course and an additional residental development, called Cutalong. Until the Food Lion is completed, we will continue to shop at our local markets or drive to the towns of Mineral, Louisa, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Culpeper, or Montpelier for groceries. The local markets have provided a valuable service to Lake Anna residents for many years, and we hope that our residents will continue to visit them as well.

Ending the Year on a High Note

|

My sales for 2009 are likely all completed and it has been an unexpectedly good year. I've been blessed to have sold 16 properties worth over $7 million dollars!  Ten of these closed in the second half of the year, convincing me that the combination of low prices and low interest rates have made Lake Anna real estate busy once again.

Most recently, I had the pleasure to work with Val and John, who closed on their really pretty 4 BR waterfront house on December 11!  Here's a photo of their new house and John and Val stepping through the door on closing day!  Look at those smiles!

IMG_0303 small.jpg IMG_0305 small.jpg

They were referrals from previous clients, and it was amazing to be able to share their joy and excitement about having a place of their own at Lake Anna.

Of course, none of my sales would have been possible without the fantastic staff and my fellow agents at Team Dockside, without the kind referrals and repeat business from past clients and friends (more than half of my business was referrals or repeat clients), and without the other great agents who cooperated with me in selling my listings. Thank you one and all!

It's this same network of professionals, as well as some really top notch loan officers and settlement companies, that I am confident will make your Lake Anna real estate experience excellent.  I look forward to seeing John and Val's smiles on your face in 2010!

See you on the lake!

My newly remodeled web site!

|

Hi and Welcome to my existing clients and all of you who found me on line!

I'm excited to get this new site up and running so I can reach out to anyone considering a real estate investment here at my favorite place...Lake Anna, Virginia!

Thanks to my site creator, Bob Cesca, for all his hard work and excellent advice.

I'm anxious to hear from you about what you enjoyed reading, what information you feel is missing, and suggestions for me. Meanwhile, I hope you'll come back often and tell your friends about my site.

We're now in the midst of the Christmas season, which is typically a slow time for Lake Anna real estate. Surprisingly enough, however, the market has picked up and I'm having trouble finding time to think about cards, gifts, and decorating! The few snow flakes that fell today did help me get into the holiday spirit. I'm posting a photo of our house taken last year when we had a very pretty snow fall. I hope you'll agree that Lake Anna is a great place all year round!

I hope to hear from you soon!

See you on the lake!
